Marcus has extensive practice experience in the field of Personal Injury. He has handled every element of a case from the initial interview through hearings, jury trials, and appeals. He believes in a close attorney-client relationship and direct involvement in each element of the litigation process. Marcus has handled a large number of cases in the fields of personal injury and social security law and has tried many cases for Juries, Judges, and Arbitrators.
Marcus is fluent in Spanish and conducted nearly all of his practice in Florida exclusively in Spanish.
Marcus gained extensive experience as a Public Speaker while associated with the Florida Immigrant Advocacy Center, speaking with community groups and engaging in negotiations with governmental entities. He graduated from the ABOTA (American Board of Trial Advocates) Trial Academy at Harvard University Law School and has been named a Super Lawyer Rising Star.
Marcus has been heavily involved in litigation for immigrantsโ rights to access government benefits and services. He has been deeply involved with cases involving the denial of public services to Cuban and Haitian immigrants because of complications with the United States immigration system. He was also part of the team that negotiated the extension and redesign of the food stamp program in Florida for the impoverished.
Marcus received his B.S. in Biology with honors from Boston College. During his time there, he completed a separate program through the School for Field Studies in the Turks and Caicos and spent a semester at the Universidad San Francisco de Quito in Ecuador.
Marcus graduated from the University of ย Miami School of Law in 2006 and spent a year studying at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona, Spain. He also participated in an International Arbitration Competition in Vienna, Austria.
Marcus is fluent in Spanish and has extensive experience working with the immigrant community. He is a candidate for a Master’s degree in Marine Affairs and Policy and LLM in Inter-American Law, for which he is completing thesis work.
Marcus is a member of the American Association for Justice and the Minnesota Association for Justice, who are committed to protecting the rights of all citizens.
Marcus is a shareholder at Swor & Gatto, P.A. He joined the firm in July 2010 after practicing at the Florida Immigrant Advocacy Center (now Americans for Immigrant Justice), a non-profit legal organization in Miami, Florida. Marcus practices in the field of Personal Injuryย law.
Marcus is an avid sportsman who enjoys soccer and alpine skiing. Marcus also has a keen interest in International Law, politics, and marine environmental issues. He has traveled extensively throughout Europe and Latin America and believes his time abroad has significantly shaped his worldview.
